Candidate filing for primary election begins Jan. 10
INDIANAPOLIS — It’s that time of the year again—election season.
On Wednesday, candidates may begin the application process for the 2018 primary election with the Secretary of State or Election Division.
Filing to run for political office candidacy will remain open until 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9.
Secretary of State Connie Lawson is encouraging candidates to begin the application process soon to avoid any possible filing conflicts.
Candidates seeking a nomination from a major political party, independent or minor party are encouraged to file. Candidates for U.S. Senate may also begin filing petitions of nomination with county voter registration offices.
The Election Division is located at 302 West Washington St., Indianapolis. Office hours for the Secretary of State and Election Division are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
